ABOUT THE

EMRPS.

The East Midlands Railway Society was started in the late summer/ early autum of 2000, with the main aim of the society, to soley specialise and cater for those entusiasts whose main intrest and enjoyment is to photograph them. The society caters for photography of all tractions e.g. Steam/Diesel/Electric weather they be on the main line or preserved railway lines. The cost for membership has been set at a low £6 for adults and £4 for juniors, these costs are to cover the the expenses of the quarterly "Full Sun" newsletter and any other letters sent to members regarding information between the newsletters e.g. Photographic charters. Any funds left over are to be donated to preservation projects which are to be decided by the membership. The society also stages slide shows throughout the winter, with the possability of staging them in the spring/summer (depending on the weather or a little later in the evening, after the sun has dropped), railway photographic compertitions may take place some months, instead of slide shows, with external judges and prizes on offer.

The "Full Sun" Newsletter:

The Quarterly "Full Sun" newsletter gives details of forth coming events, such as slide shows/ society meetings, main line events such as diverstions/loco-hauled specials and anything the society is planning, like photographic charters or other groups that are advertising their event(s). Also in the newsletter are photographic product reviews, event reviews, photographic locations, and members photographs, and anything to do with railway photography (SLR or Digital). Also members can advertise for free in the newsletter as long as it within the topic(e.g. selling old cameras or photographic equipment) or speak with Jason Cross if otherwise.

Slide shows/society meetings:

Slide shows/society meetings are held at The working mens club, Sileby, Leicestershire. Usually on the third Monday of the month with a 19.30 start, some meetings my start a little later in the summer months, if they continue through the summer. Some months railway photography compertions may be staged, with external judges and prizes on offer. Slide shows/society meetings cost £1 for members and £2 for non-members anybody is welcome, alchol and refreshments are avilable from the bar. Sileby WMC is located in the centre of Sileby town (Leicestershire) and can be found on the corner of King Street and Barrow Road.

Photographic Charters:

More photographic charters are planned for the future, following the succesful diesel charter held at the Great Central Railway on the evening of Friday 19th of January 2001, it is felt that diesel night shoots have not really been looked into and that their could be a market for this type of event, the EMRPS is also looking at the more popular steam charter market, with other groups charters being open to EMRPS members as well as EMRPS events open to all as well.
