AN INSIGHT INTO THE E.M.R.P.S.

The East Midlands Railway Photographic Society (E.M.R.P.S.) was started in the summer/autumn of 2000 with the society solely aimed at those railway enthusiasts, whose main way for enjoying railways is to take photographs of  them. The society aims to cater for all the different types of traction, weather it be Steam, Diesel, or Electric, weather it be on the main line or preserved railways. Whilst other railway societies try to cater for all types of railway enthusiasts, the E.M.R.P.S. aims to specialize in railway photography. The cost for membership is £6 Adults and £4 for juniors, these are to cover the costs of the quarterly (3 months) "FULL SUN" newsletter which has articles on forthcoming events such as slide shows, preserved, gala, main line information e.g. diversions, railtours in the area, also in the newsletter their are members photographs, photographic product reviews, photographic locations, and event reviews, such as a preserved railway gala, photographic charters. The society also has society meeting/slide show most months especially over the winter period, but this may carry on through the rest of the year, with the possibility of railway photographic competitions on some of the evenings , these meetings usually occur on a Monday evening around the middle of the month, between 10th-20th usually with a 19.30 start most of the time. The meetings/slide shows are held at The Working Men's Club in Sileby (Leicestershire) on the corner of King Street and Barrow Road (near to Sileby railway station) the cost for the shows are members £1 and non-members £2, anybody is welcome and drinks and light refreshments are available for the bar.
